Twenty-five squares hand you room to breathe: you can put combinations together without the dread of being boxed in around the next corner. The reward for using that margin well is the distant 4096 tile.

How it's played

The mechanic of joining identical numbers is unchanged, only the wider board lets you spread the tiles across several fronts at once. Fresh tiles appear after every move, and the winning condition is building the 4096.

Strategy

Use the extra width to keep two lines of construction running in parallel, and merge them only at the very end.
Take your time: with this much space it pays to stockpile mid-sized tiles before going after the big ones.
Watch the columns on the far side from your anchor; on this board that is where stray tiles get forgotten.
